LDS Homeschooling in California—and everywhere!

About the Webmaster

My name is Michele Everett. Michele Everett I grew up in Chicago and joined the church as a teenager. I met my husband, Ken, while he was in the area on business. We married in the Salt Lake Temple and had 3 children. Ken passed away Sept 15, 1998 but I continued to homeschool until 2007 when my youngest child moved on to college, making a total of 25 years of homeschooling experience, most of it in California.

I began homeschooling in 1982 while living in the Middle East where basic materials and English resources were scarce. Through that experience, I learned that education doesn’t have to cost a lot to be effective. When we moved back to the United States in 1986, we continued homeschooling although we didn't know anyone else that homeschooled at the time.

Eventually I found other LDS homeschoolers in my area and served as the leader of a local support group for 14 years. I organized homeschooling seminars and conferences, and moderate a statewide email support group, a news list, and an LDS copywork list.

I don't have any formal training in education other than what I accomplished through experience, practice, personal study and Church callings. I am an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and began teaching early morning seminary in 2000. I live in Southern California where I enjoy the museums, the concerts, the shopping, the beach, the freeways, Disneyland, and of course, the weather. My hobbies include listening to audio books, walking, traveling, and counted cross-stitch.  ~Michele Everett
